Public Workshop on Business Financing in Africa

As part of its ambition to foster an
innovative entrepreneurial ecosystem in Togo, the Ministry of Digital
Transformation (MoDT), through the Agence Togo Digital (ATD), organized a
public workshop on Saturday, July 5, 2025, at the Unipod of the University of
Lomé under the theme: “How to finance the creation and growth of your
business?”
This initiative is aligned with the
government's efforts to build the capacity of students, young entrepreneurs,
startup founders, and MSME promoters around two essential pillars of a
successful business journey: financing and strategic support.
Led by Mr. Thameur HEMDANE, an
international expert in fundraising strategies, and Mr. Brice TCHENDO, a
specialist in African SME development, the workshop provided a dynamic space
blending expert insights, practical demonstrations, and rich interactions.
Participants had the opportunity to:
● Explore various
financing options suited to the African context (grants, love money,
crowdfunding, business angels, etc.) ;
● Understand the key
steps to structure a funding request that is clear, credible, and aligned with
their project’s level of maturity ;
● Learn how to craft
a compelling pitch to convince potential investors ;
● Gain insight into
the role of support organizations in successful fundraising efforts.
When asked “What was the most impactful
takeaway from the workshop?”, one participant responded:
“I realized that fundraising isn’t just
about needing money — it’s also about preparation, timing, and strategy.”
A statement that reinforces the value and
relevance of such a learning space for Togolese entrepreneurs.
By promoting this kind of educational
initiative, the Ministry of Digital Transformation (MoDT) is helping to shape a
new generation of well-equipped economic actors, capable of mobilizing the
resources needed to bring their ideas to life.
